BILLING SPECIALIST

 Job Types:

  • Full-time

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Accurately assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) to procedures and services for billing purposes.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims for reimbursement, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Monitor and track payments, denials, and outstanding balances and take necessary actions to ensure timely payment and minimize revenue loss.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment options, providing clear and accurate information and assistance as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations, coding guidelines, and billing practices to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues, address concerns, and optimize revenue cycle processes.
  • Work with the reception staff and ensure appropriate collection of co-pays and self-pay fees.
  • Posts adjustments, transfer of responsibility, and refunds, as necessary.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with other team members.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and office equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to gather information and collaborate with providers.
  • The ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • The ability to evaluate one’s learning needs and seek educational opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher. (Preferred)

Required Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the full revenue cycle.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
  • Knowledge of related computer applications.

Experience Required:

  • At least 1 year of medical billing or coding experience.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Solid data entry and typing skills.
  • Good communication and public relations abilities.
  • Detail oriented.

In-Person Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday 8 am – 5 pm

License/Certification:

  • CPC, CPB or other equivalent certification (Preferred)
